Priscilla Seaborg,
Attorney at Law

A Seasoned Family Law Attorney With State And Federal Criminal Law Experience

As an attorney, I bring a wealth of legal experience and a personable approach to legal issues I address here in Portland and the surrounding community. Raised in South Bend, Indiana, I graduated from Indiana University and received my law degree from Indiana University Maurer School of Law.

I spent my first few years as a lawyer distinguishing myself as a public defender from 1981 to 1985 in Indiana at the Monroe County Public Defender’s office, where I successfully defended a battered woman accused of murder in federal court. My client’s acquittal of murder charges was the first known acquittal of its kind.

After moving to Oregon in 1985, I worked as an assistant federal public defender at the United States Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit. I then worked for the United Way as a vice president, the Juvenile Rights Project and the firm of Bertoni & Todd.

A Personable And Collaborative Approach To Serving Families

I founded Priscilla Seaborg, Attorney at Law, in 1995. While I still occasionally handle criminal cases, including defending battered women, a majority of my work is now helping families with legal issues. Despite my extensive courtroom experience at the federal level, I often focus on areas of collaborative law where mediation and negotiation are preferable to expensive court battles.

I believe the more measured approach better serves both parties when disagreements arise in family law matters such as divorce and domestic partnership dissolution, custody, support and other agreements. The people here in Oregon pride themselves on being level-headed, and this less confrontational approach often suits them. As a single mother who raised now-grown twin boys, I believe that taking care of children during their parents’ separation is the top priority. By keeping the tone civil, the children will see that the family unit is still intact and fully functional even though the parents now live separately.

Each case is unique, and sometimes there are issues that can only be resolved in court. My long history with the courts means that also I meticulously prepare my cases for the judge and can skillfully argue for the rights of my clients.
